This book is written by Christy Harrison, MPH, RD, CEDS who is a well known figure in the intuitive eating, anti-diet culture, eating disorder recovery space. The information in this book is truly an expose on the intricate workings of the diet industry and how we have become victims to it’s marketing and false promises.

One thing I love about this book is how thought provoking it is. In my work as a dietitian at an eating disorder treatment center, I often find myself on the frontlines of the battle against diet culture so this is a common recommendation to my clients.

Just the other day I was talking with a client and we got into a conversation about how freeing and frustrating the information in this book was. We decided that this book helped turn her anger outwards so instead of being upset with herself over failing at her dieting efforts. She instead targeted her anger towards the diet industry and the society that placed those expectations on her in the first place!
